CRKN is delighted to announce that both the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) have joined the ORCID Canada Consortium!
NSERC and SSHRC have long been members of the Canadian PID Advisory Committee (CPIDAC), and we are excited to help them implement ORCID. Members of the ORCID-CA community often ask us about the integration of ORCID into Canadian funder systems and see funder integration as an important step toward the adoption of PIDs in Canada.
Please read on for the announcement from SSHRC and NSERC:
“The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) are proud to announce that they have joined ORCID-CA , the Canadian consortium established to support the integration of ORCID identifiers in research-related information systems.
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) produces unique, persistent identifiers that researchers can use with multiple organizations to compile the outputs of their research activities. This is part of an overall effort to reduce the administrative burden for the research community in relation to data collection in our processes.”
